Dragunity

Dragunity is an wind attribute archtype consist of dragon and winged-beast type monsters. Dragunity appears as a dragon riders where the tuners are among the level 3 or lower dragons, whereas the riders are winged-beast type and non-tuner. Dragunity has it own synchro monsters, which is 5 of them, which is Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg, Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg, Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana, Dragunity Knight - Trident and Dragunity Knight - Barcha. However, Dragunity doesn't rely fully on synchro summon as the monsters can stand on its own. For example like Dragunity Dux for level 4 power house and Dragunity Legionaire for destructive effect.

Most people say that Dragunity is like a newer version of union monster, where the non-tuners will be equip by the tuners which is the dragons symbolized that the non-tuners (winged-beast) is riding the tuners (dragon). Dragunity relies a lot on sending it tuners to the graveyard so that the non-tuners such as Dragunity Dux and Dragunity Legionaire can bring them back to the field as equip card, as each of the Dragunity tuners have their own effect when equipped to a Dragunity monster. Dragunity is one of the archetype that can be considered complete where it can stand on its own. Means that a pure Dragunity deck is strong enough to take on most of the high level meta deck such as Blackwing and Six Samurai.

Having winged-beast type and dragon type, Dragunity receive a lot of support from cards like Icarus Attack and Burst Breath. Another is Spiritual Wind Art - Miyabi due to their attribute which is wind. Using Burst Breath is not quite effective. This is due to the dragon type tuners have a low ATK. Unless of course if you plan to use the Dragunity synchro as the cost to activate Burst Breath. That is a downside to using Burst Breath in Dragunity deck, until the release of the new ace of Dragunity, an effect monster which is dragon type non-tuner, Dragunity Arma Leyvaten and Dragunity Arma Mystletainn. This summoning condition for these two card is quite easy, making them a pretty good cost for the activation of Burst Breath, especially Dragunity Arma Leyvaten. A beat stick with 2600 ATK, if use for the cost of activating Burst Breath, most high level monster such as Red Dragon Archfiend will be destroyed. Afterwards it can be easily summon back by removing 1 monster you control equipped with a Dragunity card.

Dragunity also receive excess draw power from Cards of Consonance due to the major appearance of dragon type tuner monsters with 1000 ATK or less such as Dragunity Phalanx and Dragunity Aklys. Dragunity also receive draw power from Trade-In where you can discard Dragunity Arma Leyvaten to grave to draw 2 cards. Dragunity Arma Leyvaten effects can be activate from either hand or grave, so, sending it to grave to draw more cards has no down side at all. Along with the release of Dragunity Arma Leyvaten, the field card of Dragunity is also released, Dragon Ravine, which gives you the ability to discard 1 card to either add 1 level 4 or lower Dragunity monster from your deck to your hand or send 1 dragon type monster from your deck to grave. Having Dragon Ravine set up on the field definitely gives you hand advantage set your graveyard with several Dragunity tuners or Dragunity Arma Leyvaten. It's like, once per turn, you get to activate Reinforcement of the Army or Foolish Burial for Dragunity monsters. So, Including a lot of Terraforming can help you to draw Dragon Ravine to your hand and if you happen to draw all 3 Dragon Ravine before drawing all your Terraforming, it won't be a dead draw cause it can be use as a discard fodder for Dragon Ravine's effect. So, it is advised to include 3 copies of Terraforming in Dragunity deck. Just from these 3 cards, you can thin your deck super fast which improves the percentage of drawing the cards you need. Thus, including Pot of Avarice can gives you even more draw power and recycle Dragunity Dux and Dragunity Legionaire back to your deck so that you can use their effect again.

A pure Dragunity deck is quite strong to take on many other strong deck. However, it has low flexibility due to the requirement to set up some tuners in your grave and some tuners in your hand. Dragunity doesn't have super powerful cards that can match cards like Shooting Star Dragon, Red Nova Dragon or Tech Genus Blade Blaster, but it does have 5 synchro with different abilities. Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg is for battle, Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg is for hand control and grave set up, Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana is for instant powerhouse and Dragunity synchro with the ability to equip tuners from grave, Dragunity Knight - Trident is to attack opponents extra deck and Dragunity Knight - Barcha is to gain the ability of as many the tuners' effect as it can equip as many as possible Dragunity tuners and it gain 300 ATK for each monster equipped.

This deck focused on summoning Red Nova Dragon. This deck has the easiest way to summon Red Nova Dragon in one turn as it only requires you to have 1 Dragunity Dux and 1 Inferno Reckless Summon in your hand. you will need to have 3 Dragunity phalanx in order for this to work, and 1 of them have to be sent to grave first. So, the set up is, 1 Dragunity Dux and 1 Inferno Reckless Summon in your hand, at least 1 Dragunity Phalanx in your grave, 1 Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana in your extra deck and opponent need to control at least 1 face up monster. This is easily setup by Dragon Ravine, as if you didn't draw Dragunity Dux to your hand, you can add it to your hand by discarding 1 card, you might draw Dragunity Phalanx, so Dragunity Phalanx can be used as the discard fodder to add Dragunity Dux to your hand. all you need is to draw Inferno Reckless Summon. if you include 3 of them in your deck, it shouldn't be hard to draw.

Once everything is in order, all you need to do is normal summon Dragunity Dux and when its effect kicks in, select Dragunity Phalanx in your grave and equip to it. Then, activate the equipped Dragunity Phalanx's effect to special summon it to the field. Then tune both Dragunity Dux and Dragunity Phalanx to synchro summon Dragunity knight - Vajrayana. When synchro summoned, Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana's effect will activate, select the Dragunity Phalanx in your grave to equip to this card. Then once again activate the equipped Dragunity Phalanx effect to special summon it to the field, but this time when it is successfully special summoned, activate Inferno Reckless Summon to summon 2 more Dragunity Phalanx from your deck, hand or grave. This gives you with 3 Dragunity Phalanx and 1 Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana. Tune Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana with 1 Dragunity Phalanx to synchro summon Red Dragon Archfiend. Then tune Red Dragon Archfiend to the remaining 2 Dragunity Phalanx to synchro summon Red Nova Dragon. Red Nova Dragon gain extra 500 ATK x the number of tuners in your grave. So, from this combo, Red Nova should at least have 5000 ATK. Since that, Dragunity deck rely a lot on sending tuners to grave and it can be send easily due to the effect of Dragon Ravine, you can power up Red Nova Dragon each turn. Note that you can only use this combo if your opponent controls at least 1 monster and you need to have at least 4 free space of monster card zone. From this combo, you can see that Dragunity also provides the easiest way to summon a level 8 synchro monster such as Red Dragon Archfiend and Stardust Dragon just by using 1 Dragunity Dux from your hand.

Five-Headed Dragon

This Dragunity deck focused on the usage of Dragunity Arma Leyvaten as it has an infinite loop of special summoning when combined with Light and Darkness Dragon. Dragunity Arma Leyvaten has an easy summoning condition. In order for this combo to work, you will need Light and Darkness Dragon in your grave. The easiest to set up this combo is by activating Future Fusion, target Five-Headed Dragon in your extra deck, and send at least 1 Dragunity Arma Leyvaten, 1 Light and Darkness Dragon and the other 3 should be 3 different Dragunity tuners which should be Dragunity Phalanx, Dragunity Aklys and Dragunity Corsesca. With this, in the next two turn, Five-Headed Dragon should be coming, and the set up for infinite special summon loop of Dragunity Arma Leyvaten is done. If you activate Future Fusion, it is advised that you don't summon Dragunity Arma Leyvaten yet, unless if Future Fusion is destroyed by your opponents card effect.

To summon Dragunity Arma Leyvaten back from your grave, you can either use Monster Reborn or you can just summon Dragunity Dux or Dragunity Legionaire. Dragunity Arma Leyvaten can be special summon from hand or grave by removing 1 face up monster you control equipped with Dragunity cards. After Dragunity Arma Leyvaten is summoned, activate its effect to equipped Light and Darkness Dragon from your grave. From this moment on, if your Dragunity Arma leyvaten is destroyed or leaves the field, Light and Darkness Dragon will also be destroyed, triggering its effect to let you select 1 monster in your grave, destroy all cards you control and special summon that monster. That's why if you activate Future Fusion, it is advised that you hold on the summoning of Dragunity Arma Leyvaten unless of course if you don't mind losing a 5000 ATK beat stick like Five-Headed Dragon by your own card effect.

Due to the loop from Dragunity Arma Leyvaten and Light and Darkness Dragon, activating cards like Burst Breath and Spiritual Wind Art - Miyabi is becoming more effective as the monster you tribute for the cost of activating those cards will be revived back. You are tributing Dragunity Arma Leyvaten and as it leaves the field, Light and Darkness Dragon equipped to it will be destroyed, triggering its effect again.

Blackwing

Blackwing is one of the most favorite and quite powerful synchro archtype in current metagame and known as "Black Feather" in Japanese version. Blackwing makes its entries with 5 pretty strong but not fully supported card which includes Blackwing Gale the Whirlwind, Blackwing Bora the Spear, Blackwing Sirocco the Dawn, Blackwing Armor Master and Raptor Wing Strike. Afterwards, with several release of Blackwings such as Blackwing Shura the Blue Flame and Blackwing Blizzard the Far North, gives a major boost in Blackwing deck capability of easy swarm and synchro summon.

Consist only Dark attribute Winged-Beast type monster (except Blackwing Aurora of the Northern Lights), Blackwing receive support from various cards that support Dark monster such as Allure of Darkness, Dark Armed Dragon, Dark Eruption, Veil of Darkness and Deck Devastation Virus. Being Winged-Beast type also gives Blackwing the ability to use cards like Icarus Attack for destructive power and Swallow's Nest for deck searcher.

Black-Winged Dragon is also a good card to be included in Blackwing deck, but it doesn't share the Blackwing name though. Black-Winged Dragon has the ability to block effect damage dealt to you from either your or your opponent's card. It doesn't negate the effect, just block the damage and put a counter on it which can be release to reduce ATK of one monster opponent control by 700 x number of counters removed and deal effect damage ideal to the ATK reduced. It support Blackwing in a way if you use plenty of Against the Wind or Blackwing Zephyrus the Elite.

Blackwing deck that focuses on Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour is quite good for a speedy synchro. Well, if using Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour's effect, it is not considered synchro summon, just plain special summon, so, you cannot re-special summon those synchro monster back except from extra deck. However, such synchro monster can be use for the next Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour's effect for a stronger synchro monster. For example, in this deck, you usually will remove Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour with Blackwing Sirocco the Dawn to special summon Blackwing Armed Wings. Once Blackwing Armed Wings is destroyed, you can remove another Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour but this time with Blackwing Armed Wings to summon an even stronger, Blackwing Armor Master. Same case applied to summon Blackwing Silverwind the Ascendent. Eventhough Blackwing Silverwind the Ascendent requires at least 3 monster to synchro summon (which is 1 Blackwing tuner + 2 or more non-tuner monster) by using Vayu's effect, such condition is not applied since that it is not synchro summon. A favourite card to combo with Vayu's effect is definitely Book of Moon, which flip the synchro monster summoned by Vayu's effect, to face down defense position and regain their effects. That's not all, after flip face down, if the monster is destroyed, it can be special summon back. This often goes with Blackwing Armor Master, as it regain its indestructibility and wedge counter placement. Burial from Different Dimension is good to recycle Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour back to the graveyard to reuse its effect.

Blacksworn Deck

Blackwing Zephyrus the Elite
Blackwing Gale the Whirlwind
Blackwing Kalut the Moon Shadow
Blackwing Sirocco the Dawn
Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour
Blackwing Elphin the Raven
Blackwing Boreas the Sharp

Book of Moon

Solemn Judgment
Icarus Attack
Mirror Force
Return from Different Dimension

Blackwing Armed Wings
Blackwing Armor Master
Blackwing Silverwind the Ascendent
Black-Winged Dragon
Ally of Justice Catastor

Similar to Vayu Turbo deck, it focuses on Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour. The cards like Ryko the Lightsworn Hunter, Magical Merchant and Charge of the Light Brigade is necessary to send Blackwing Vayu the Emblem of Honour and Blackwing Boreas the Sharp to grave quickly.

Six Samurai

Six Samurai is a warrior series that draws power from swarming. The original Six Samurai is The Six Samurai - Zanji, The Six Samurai -Irou, The Six Samurai -Nisashi, The Six Samurai -Yariza, The Six Samurai -Yaichi and The Six Samurai -Kamon. All of them gain their effects while another Six Samurai monster with different name is present on your field. Rely a lot on Grandmaster of The Six Samurai who is not included in the original Six Samurai, but share the Six Samurai name. This is due to the ability of Grandmaster of The Six Samurai that can be special summon easily if you control a Six Samurai monster. Serving their warlord, The Great Shogun Shien, the 2500 beat stick for Six Samurai. However, it doesn't share Six Samurai name, thus not supported by most Six Samurai support cards like Six Samurai United, Legendary Ebon Steed and many more. Several other Six Samurai related monster that doesn't share Six Samurai name is Shien's Foot Soldier and Enishi, Shien's Chanselor. Most of the Shien monster, support Six Samurai but it doesn't supported by most Six Samurai support cards. Thus including them in Six Samurai deck are not a pretty wise choice. Especially since that a newer Six Samurai cards is released.

Thanks to this new release, Six Samurai is now a favorite to many duelist. The new releases are called Legendary Six Samurai and seems like more of a predecessor to the original Six Samurai. The cards includes, Legendary Six Samurai - Enishi, Legendary Six Samurai -Kizan, Legendary Six Samurai -Kageki, Legendary Six Samurai -Mizuho, Legendary Six Samurai - Shinai and the new beat stick which is a synchro monster, Legendary Six Samurai -Shi En. Although, these new cards is called "Legendary Six Samurai", the rule for Six Samurai support cards can be apply to them this is due to the word "Six Samurai" that exist in the card name.

The new Legendary Six Samurai play style is different to the original Six Samurai where it focused a lot on swarming, this can be seen from cards like Legendary Six Samurai -Kizan, Legendary Six Samurai -Kageki, Legendary Six Samurai -Mizuho, Legendary Six Samurai - Shinai. Due to such overwhelming swarming capability, draw power is needed. So, new Six Samurai support cards like Gateway of the Six and Shien's Smoke Signal along with the old Six Samurai united, gives Six Samurai a major hand control. In addition to the old Asceticism of the Six Samurai and the new Shien's Dojo that special summon from deck gives Six Samurai an immense field advantage. Easy enough to summon Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En by using Kagemusha of the Six Samurai as the tuner which can be retrieve to your hand by using Reinforcement of the Army, Shien's Smoke Signal, Gateway of the Six or special summon to your field from deck by using Shien's Dojo or Asceticism of the Six Samurai while you control Elder of the Six Samurai vice versa.

Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En is becoming an almost broken card with the ability to negate spell or trap once per turn, and indestructible by destroying other Six Samurai monster, making this card limited on Sept 2011 ban list. High ATK (2500) for a level 5 monster with devastating effects. Due to the easiness of this card being played, it is now limited, so that Six Samurai deck users cannot abuse its abilities. Having 1 Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En is bad enough, what of there are 3 of them all at once. In addition to that, Shien's Smoke signal and Gateway of the Six is also limited to reduce the excess draw power in Six Samurai deck.

Thus, in order to improve back the draw power in Six Samurai deck, it is always suggested to use Upstart Goblin. Although it gives opponents 1000 LP boost, but it is nothing if you can thin your deck to search for a better card. not to mention, several swarm of SS monster can easily wipe a lot of opponents LP in a turn.

Giant Trunade

Most people wonder, why this card is banned?
It only return all spell and trap back to the owner's hand.
so, it only provides 1 turn safety from potential table-turner back row cards like Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute which afterwards can be set again which is very different from Heavy Storm and Harpie's Feather Duster that destroy spell and traps, preventing them from being used again. But yet, Harpie's Feather Duster and Giant Trunade is banned while Heavy Storm is limited.

I don't exactly have the professional answer from Konami, but I personally can understand why it is supposed to be banned over Heavy Storm.

First of all, as both Heavy Storm and Giant Trunade gives 1 turn back row free, so that there are no risk in attacking, summoning a monster or etc. However, as Heavy Storm goes, it purpose is to remove back rows for good by destroying them which trigger the effect from cards like Starlight Road, Stardust Dragon, Shooting Star Dragon, Destruction Jammer and Geartown while these 5 cards effect cannot be activated in response to or after Giant Trunade effects kicks in. Playing Geartown definitely makes opponents think twice before activating Heavy Storm. They get to destroy your back rows, but gives you a 3000 ATK beatstick Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon.

Another is because of the ability to recycle equip cards, continuous trap, union monster, Dragunity, Crystal Beast and cards like Swords of Revealing Light. Recycling cards like Premature Burial or Symbol of Heritage gives you huge advantage, giving you extra graveyard special summon. Most continuous trap that are used to special summon monsters, usually remains on the field if the monster bind to it is used for synchro, tribute, fusion or xyz summon. Such cards is like, Call of the Haunted and Limit Reverse. Though recycling union monster would be too much of an advantage, but recycling Dragunity or Crystal Beast is a whole different story. It certainly will give you hand advantage, but to tell you the truth, I wouldn't do that if I were you. It is more like a rare case that you might need to return Dragunity or Crystal Beast to your hand. Last is recycling cards that remains on the field a number of turn, such as Swords of revealing Light, Swords of Concealing Light and Nightmare Steel Cage. Supposedly, Swords of Revealing Light prevents opponent from attacking for 3 turns, but if you activate Giant Trunade on your second turn after activation, you can extend it to 5 turns. Against deck with a lot of power house but low destructive power, it is a great help.

On top of all that, I strongly believe that the main reason Giant Trunade is banned is due to back row removal without triggering cards like Starlight Road, Stardust Dragon, Shooting Star Dragon, Destruction jammer and Geartown.

Rescue Cat

Seems like a harmless card.
Don't make me laugh.
This is one of the most dangerous card in the game.
Giving you the ability to summon not 1 but 2 monsters from your deck which is way too hyper.
Having the ability to access most monsters in your deck, this card is way too good to be even limited.

Provide easy rank 3 or lower xyz summon or lv 6 or lower synchro summon is bad enough.
Considering that it summon monsters from the deck which thin the deck by 2 selectable cards improves the possibility of drawing the cards that you need next turn. Not to mention it can be special summon from the deck by cards like Giant Rat and Summoner Monk. Also, can be revive to be reuse by cards like Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted and Limit Reverse.

This cute little can make deck likes X-Saber or Unicorn way to strong. Having this card alone, gives you the ability to summon X-Saber Airbellum (Lv3[Tuner]) and XX-Saber Dark Soul (Lv3) which can be use to synchro into XX-Saber Hyunlei (Lv6) or other Lv6 Synchro. Which means, using this card alone, allows you to call forth a monster with 2300 ATK with the ability to destroy up to 3 spell or trap cards on the field due to XX-Saber Hyunlei's effect and during the end phase gives you the ability to add an X-Saber monster from your deck to your hand due to XX-Saber Darksoul's effect. Other cases, is with Unicorn deck, which you can choose to summon Unihorn Familiar (Lv2[Tuner])/Elephun (Lv2[Tuner]) and Mine Mole (Lv3) to synchro to Thunder Unicorn (Lv5) which can reduce the ATK of opponent's monster by 500 for each monster you control. Usually,it's not quite easy to summon Thunder Unicorn, but Rescue Cat has made it way too easy to summon it. In addition, due to Mine Mole's effect, you get to draw 1 card. It's almost like you didn't use any card from your hand at all to summon Thunder Unicorn.
